I would imagine it's infuriating. I can't imagine what it would be like to not be able to hunt the whitetails I cater to every year on our place.

Yes, it's very frustrating. Someone from out of state can build up points while hunting at home. I can't do that. I only hunt here. If I want points. I have to skip hunting. It doesn't seem right. I live here so I can hunt.

There are 5 or 6 units down here where I live. I can usually draw one of them even if it is a 2nd choice. Usually if I don't get my first choice, I can get another unit thats close and then I get a point too. The next year I usually draw where I want.

Increasing the LO vouchers to 20% probably didn't help the percentage breakdown for resident to NR licenses. As far as deer goes, no OTC units means there's not many options. When some 4th seasons open back up you're going to see some folks getting out of the point game.

OH, I have built up almost enough points to draw any elk tag I want. And I have also taken several elk while I have been building points. The same goes for deer. You may not be able to hunt same unit every year but you can hunt every year. You might not be able in your back yard. You may have to change up what weapon you use and the gender but this state has many possibilities for residents to hunt every year and still build points for future hunts.

Congrats Old Hunter. I know you have been waiting for a deer tag. Are you going to pick up an elk tag? Just points for me this year. Good luck to all!

Well, i'd have to get an OTC elk tag, and I can do that right before the 2nd season. I'll wait and see how the deer hunt goes, and how the weather is. I'll need to go over Cottonwood Pass to hunt elk. If it's not closed from snow, and looks like it's will be open for 2nd season. I'll decide then. Lugging out another elk on my back alone is not something I look forward to. If I have a good hunt for a buck. I may skip the elk this year.
