AZ Lion Tag Question

So I'm heading to AZ after Thanksgiving for a Coues hunt, and want to buy a lion tag "just in case." I'm also considering returning in January for a Javelina bowhunt. Will my lion tag still be good, or do they expire at the end of the calendar year?

The normal lion hunting season is from July 1 of this year to June 30 next year.

You might want to check out the regulations on the Arizona Game and Fish website to be sure.

Yep, I know season is year-round. I just can't find anywhere if the tag is good for those dates or not.

I know my license is good for 1 year from date of purchase. I just don't know if lion tags go by that 7/1 to 6/30, by calendar year, or from date of purchase.

I just looked and they go from 7/1/2016 to 6/30/2017.

The tag should be valid for the whole season. If you really need to know call the AZGF office.

Yep, the hunting license is. That's why I'm thinking about going back in January, it'll be $160 cheaper since I've already got the license.

Thanks Jim. That does make the most sense, although I don't believe it's explicitly stated in the regs. I'll call prior to purchasing to be sure.
