AZ bears

What would be the best time of the year to chase bears in eastern AZ? I'm starting to get really interested in these animals. Thanks

Maybe not a lot of bear hunters in AZ?
We did see a bear cross the road near Hannagan Meadow on the way to the Blue Vista. We tried to get a pic but once it got about 10 feet off the road the tree and brush cover is like a wall.

I could be wrong but I think they are only a fall animal in Arizona. I have a buddy that guides there with dogs and he told me that the bears there do not hibernate like elsewhere and some of them are active year round. he also said AZ fish and game has very stringent rules for houndsman.
