Attack Pant Durability

I just bought the attacks this year and used them for the first time this weekend (I was hunting the Oregon Cascades). They were great but yesterday I was walking through an open clear cut and realized part way through that my pants were starting to snag on little berry bushes. They were very low to the ground and no matter how hard I tried the pants would still get snagged every once and in while. I have about a dozen little runs in my pants below the knees where the small thorns caught the fabric and pulled the fabric loose and left little yarn loops. I realize the fabric is meant to be stretchy and light but I was hoping for a little more durability. Overall I like the pants but very disappointed that there wasn't a little more durability to them. I feel like I could hunt all season long and stay out of the brush but be stuck in a situation where I have to walk through some brush for an hour out of the entire season and still trash these pants. I don't like feel like I have to be so careful where I go when I hunt just because I'm afraid I'll tear my $130 hunting pants!

Has anyone else had this experience? Is there another Kuiu pant that might be more durable? Is it the 4-way stretch that make it susceptible to snags? Maybe the Teton pant would be more durable. . Thoughts? Maybe I should go with another brand.

I've hunted in mine for over a year now, deer, elk turkey and in BC for moose is some very tough conditions with no problems! I do wear gators when I'm in sticky stuff though.

I hunt the Oregon cascades too. Same experience as you, brand new pant fray and no longer look new. I bought a second pair last winter, my first pair I bought last year have a rip in the right ankle area just inside the seam. I still like the pants, but they don't look new for long.

i feel your pain, that's the reason I disliked kryptec, my attack pants did the same thing. at first I was overly impressed with them, then the snags set in. my buddy has the Chinooks and those have seemed to hold up realy good. all honesty..... im going back to kings camo, they have some great stuff out at a way cheaper price and holds up to real hunting conditions, and you don't have to wait half a year to get them. sorry kuiu, I will try the Chinooks out though, my attack pants will now become hiking pants, not hunting pants. didn't pass the test.

I'd say good to hear, but I'm not glad to hear it. I was really hoping that these pants and Kuiu gear would work. I guess I will have to be selective on when I wear them, or maybe try out the Chinooks.

Its good to hear that Kings works well, does anyone else have brands that hold up well?

the gators are awesome! I love love love my kuiu gators! and as far as not maintaining the new look, I don't care about that, at all. threads popping out all over the place and small holes forming just doesn't cut it. they haven't even been put through rifle season yet.

I agree. It surprises me that I have not heard more about this problem. Maybe its that most people are just hunting the open ridges or something but if you're really out there hunting hard your going to walk trough a brush pile every now and then. I just hope my pants don't fall apart in a couple years. For the price and only using them 2 weeks out of the year they should last 10 years.

I worried about mine the first time through the blackberry vines in the clear cuts because of the snagging, but I have used them 2 more years and other than looking a little rough on the bottom of the legs, they have been great. I don't mind if they look rough as long as they work great.

That's good to hear. I care much less about what they look and much more about the durability. That is the only piece of the puzzle in question. Everything else is great. These are definitely the best, most comfortable pants I've ever worn.
