Weight loss wont let me use my old Natural Gear camo pants s o Im going ASAT.

Might be an old question here but if anyone has experience with ASAT :

First Lite merino or Elite Essential ?

I've heard great things about the pattern but mixed reviews of the quality/durability .

The other problem is that there just aint no place to see and try the product.

Lots of guys around here have had good luck with the First Lite Kanabs, and this year they have the Kanab 2's coming out. ASAT is pretty popular with bowhunters this side of the mountains, especially hunting the coast range.

eta: we should have the Kanab 2's in ASAT by the end of next week :)

Check out Day One Camo company out of Denver CO. It is a great company and while their ASAT fabric is made overseas, they construct all their garments right here in the U.S.A. I bought their pullover light fleece (see pictures and review I posted in an earlier thread) and hat. Both are awesome, but they offer ASAT in many other fabrics.

Here is their website:

I bought some from both companies. Used cotton ASAT last year and have elite essential this year with a few pieces of first lite, llano, Halstead, brimmed beany, chama.

Ended up with ASAT by Day One in 'cowboy suede'. At 5'10" 180# the medium western style shirt could easily pass for large, not a problem just generously cut.

Out&about this week , wife says she hopes I wont be able to hear the deer laughing at me.

Thanx again gents ,very helpful.

You may already be aware but one thing I always do when wearing camo is wear a different pattern on top vs bottoms. That way you break up the human form. Stand back and take a photo or video of friends in same vs different camo patterns and you'll see what I'm talking about!

This years hunt was a bust so I cant speak to the stealthyness of my new ASAT rig. On the other hand it was a joy to wear and didnt pick up a single burr or sticker. It stayed fairly warm out so come elk season we'll test it's cold weather qualities. I expect good results.

I bought the First Lite north branch jacket, fleece, and Corrugate Guide pants in the Fusion pattern this year. Pretty sure the last ones left in this country. I had to buy medium bc large was sold out, I'm 6.1 190 lbs athletic build. I could not say more about this gear, it fits great, I've wore it in the wisconsin tree stand in 70 degrees, grouse hunting in the brush, Wyoming mule deer hunting in the mist wind and rain, and lastly in 41 degrees October tree stand sitting. I will say the jacket is too heavy for the grouse hunting in warm weather and another layer or two would be needed for these cooler Temps lately. I am very impressed with first lite fusion as a pattern, i have yet to be busted by any whitetails and some at very close range. The mulies seem to stare me down a bit longer too.

I have used ASAT for a few years now. ASAT pattern is a great pattern for the west. I have used both ASAT Co itself and First Lite gear. Hands down First Lite is better. Good quality product from a pretty small company out of Idaho.
