I know there are several folks here who may have an interest in the upcoming Artemis launch. Launch is scheduled for this coming Monday (8/29) at 8:33am Eastern. You can watch the launch on NASA's website. Info is below. I'm looking forward to a successful launch!

I would say what a complete waste of money but our government is gonna piss it all away anyhow. so in the end I guess I would rather blast it to the moon than send it to iran and ukraine. or forgiving deadbeat student loans.

wonder if this will be faked like the first landing. ;) :ROFLMAO:

Took too long to do this. ( started my aerospace career of 40 years, working on the Apollo/Saturn program over 60 years ago). The argument is it was too expensive and what did we get out of the billions we spent. Probably the most beneficial is what we all use today and take for granted......the cell phone and computers which we depend on for almost everything we touch everyday. The company I am retired from (Northrop Grumman) builds the main propulsion rocket that will get us there.

Go gettum....................!(y)

Colonization of the moon will be critical for national defense. It will eventually become the biggest source of contention between NATO countries and Russia and China. And the launches are all a precursor to colonization of Mars.

Also on the hunting side of this, don't forget all the magic clothing fibers that keep us warm and dry out in the woods along with the food storage and prep that came out of the space program.

with the ray guns we will get from this program we will be able to shoot and cook our dinner all at once. 🤪

my guess is we will pour money into this program until the economy soon tanks again or a republican is put back in office. in either case there will suddenly be a call to stop the spending.
same people who are all in now will suddenly be vehemently opposed.

just imagine ...... trump back in office, giving a speech where he states, "the space program is terrific."
the media outrage would shut this sucker down overnight. :ROFLMAO:

The really great spinoffs from the space program that we enjoy and take for granted today are endless. I remember back in the early 70's Rockwell (the company I worked for then) started a company that used the spray foam insulation developed for the the second stage of the Saturn rocket to insulate fishing boat storage tanks, railroad refrigeration cars and building insulation. As I said, the list is endless.

The company I work for here in Cedar Rapids, IA provided the radio communications equipment for Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. Alas, my Team doesn't have the comm package on Artemis, but we have something on almost every plane in the DoD inventory, along with payloads on the Kill Vehicle and some satellites. Godspeed Artemis, go-go-go!!

Hardly even making the news.

Taylor swift and her potential new album drop was more important to them....

My launch task is complete. Time to kick up my feet and enjoy the ride.
