Just found out work wants me to go down to AZ for a week.. I thought while I was down there, if it worked out, I might take the hunters education class, and get the permanent point.. Anyone know anything about the course, or has anyone taken the course? Length of time, where to find the schedule, etc.. I looked at the AZ site, but am not seeing much.

Edit: Found what I was looking for, didn't look hard enough. Anyone know if they will open more classes as needed, or what's there is there, and no more?

This is a good question. I have a son who is 9. He turns 10 this fall. He will need his license to hunt with me, but I cannot find a hunter safety class within two hours of us. There are multiple classroom sessions (5-6) for each class during the week, but they get out at 9pm. We wouldn't get home until 11:30 pm on school nights. That is impractical for a 9 year old.

I have thought about the online course, but he would have to do the Saturday field day within 90 days of completing the online class. You cannot sign up for a Saturday class until you have the online certificate. This seems to be the cart in front of the horse, because how do I plan the online course and ensure I can get him into a Saturday class within 90 days?

Anyone know who I can talk to about AZ G&F scheduling something closer?

Don Martin teaches two supplemental classes per year in Kingman Az. My son and I took the first class of 2015 in Jan. The second class is april/ may if Im thinking correctly. You must have Hunter Safety from another state to take this class. Its one long class day. Covers rules, regs, hunters safety and the draws. Call Dave Williams at AZ G&F (Hunter Education) 623-236-7434 and he’ll give you the info and sign you up if it works out for your schedule.

Take the online class and tests. If you're an experienced Hunter you probably know enough to just jump straight to the test and pass. Once you complete the online course the class you take in AZ is only a couple hours

Looks like they don't have anything that would fit my schedule.. I guess I could just drive up towards Flagstaff, and scout for that elk tag I should draw in the next 20 years.

The Make or Break for the P&Y convention in Phoenix for me was if I could take the HE class while there. I waited too long, and they were full up.
