As long as the price isn't too steep it should be a good hunt.

Like in Nevada, there are big bucks in every unit but you need to hit it just right and with a late season landowner tag in hand I would say that the time is right.

I assume you mean a Nonresident Rifle Deer tag since there are GMU 4, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th season, Rifle, Private Land, "Either Sex" deer tags ... but only cow tags for elk.

Those deer tags are good for a few different areas and GMU 4 is where most of the bucks are taken.
This is especially true 4th season when bucks push into their lower elevation winter range in GMU 4.
Much of that is Private Land so if you have a landowner tag you may be in business.
This is not normally a trophy area ... but you never know!

Yes landowner tag good for area 4, 14,and 214. Near Baker Peak and over 600 acers in the migration corridor. 8000 ft elevation.
4g with private land access and a cabin. But good to hunt the other areas too.

Was told 180 is possible and you were picky and glassed hard

That should be good. If the weather hits really hard the deer will be moving to lower elevation further south, but you could catch them moving through. That area isn't know for 180" bucks but heck, there are big bucks hidden all over the state ... so glass hard and you may find one.

Recommend you call Johnathan Lambert (Area Wildlife Manager I believe) in Meeker (970) 878--6090.
He can tell you the current condition of the herd ... and ask him how well they're recovering from the Severe Winter 18 months ago.
