I hunted this area 2 years ago and killed my first antelope . I have a couple questions, if Im reading it right I have 0% chance of drawing with no points, however I have 100% chance in the high priced bracket. If I'm going to pay the extra $$$ for the tag I need to know, Has the herd numbers improved since the historic drought the last couple years? While I was there antelope were plentiful,but I heard the drought took a huge toll. Question #2 are there any area close to Douglas or Casper with public access like 27 has? Thank you for the help!

he numbers are down, but last year the moisture was pretty good. I do not know what this winter has brought, so that may be a concern. If you have hunted 27 prior then I would stick with it, not sure of any other area around there that has the amount of public access that 27 has.
Its up to you on the high price tag and its a crap shoot as well, we applied with 3 points for a area that 100% odds with 2 points on the special and did not draw last year.

We went out there in2012, there were alot of goats than, but I heard this spring they lost alot. Two of us applied special draw with no points and got drawn, I applied general with no points and didn't get it. So I bought a leftover for 26. My cousin lives there so was able to get me on private land to get a descent buck, even that year they said wasn't real great because of the drought. Might want to give a call out there and see how it is before you decide.

OP---You are correct in that the 2013 Regular Random Draw had 13 tags with 282 first choice applicants, while the Special Random Draw had 8 tags with no first choice applicants. I hunted 27 in 2010 and there were plenty of goats on the south end of the unit down near Antelope Creek, as well as water holes in that Red Hills area. If you want to hunt 27 this year. I'd buy that Special tag and go hunting.
