I've got an area 10 late rifle deer tag amd i'm wondering if any of you have ever hunted Spruce mountain.
I looked in there once during early rifle season and didn't see much. I know some of it has been designated as
wilderness since then. Maybe the Pequops might be another area to look in.
I know the Ruby's quite well but I thought I might try someplace with less pressure.
Any Ideas?

It really depends on weather with spruce if there's a lot of snow come the late hunt then yes spruce is the place but I would also check the lone butte area for them migrating out of the east humboldts to spruce

I am also interested in spruce mountain. I am thinking this would be a good out of the way spot for a late season archery 101-109 tag. Any thoughts?

New to the forum. My wife and I hunted Spruce Mountain the first year they had the late hunt. We ended up there trying to get away from other hunters and it worked, we had the place to ourselves. My wife ended up killing a nice buck a third of the way down from the top in a rock slide on the north side of the mountain. I forgot my pocket knife there, always thought I draw again and retrieve it. We saw some other good bucks, but not the right one and the season ended. I think these were resident deer, but I know that there is some movement along the "P" range, but not sure if they end up on Spruce. Great country!

Thanks for the info. I've looked there once but there was snow and fog for a couple of days and couldn't see anything, so we went to our spot in the Ruby's that we know very well.
