Thanks for reading.
I need. Little info if possible my kids drew 014 tags and because of the shutdown we are not going to get the extra scouting/hunting trips in that we had planned. We went up and looked around some in late july tho. What I'm wondering is if we will see deer in the same general areas as we did in july and if any body has a report on deer behavior that's going on. Heard from a friend that some small bucks are starting to follow the does in some other areas. Just trying to make sure our one trip is fun. Looking at going for a long weekend the last weekend of season. Might get one day trip in this week while schools out too. And any word about or thoughts on how much pressure that area gets?

Thanks

I don't know about that area but where I hunt the bucks have been in the same area since late June. They are starting to move around as they are starting to get ready for the rut. Saw some bucks running around sniffing does already.

Not sure about 014 but the report I got from a buddy this last weekend is that the big bucks are still in their bachelor groups and the small guys are hangin with the does just like you said. 014 has it's hotspots that get hit hard like Fox Mountain but it's big country and if you are just trying to get your kids on some deer you shouldn't have too hard a time, findin the big boys takes some work obviously. By the last weekend hopefully most the hunters have either tagged out or called it a season but the deer will have been chased around so much they probably won't be where you saw them in the summer but who knows. 014 is by far my favorite deer hunting in the state and I have spent many years hunting up there. Feel free to Pm me if you have any questions, I'm always willing to help out especially for kids on a junior hunt.

We have a couple cameras up and we have pushed some bucks around quite a bit since archery season and they still hang out in the same area. Just move less during the day. I will be out in 014 this weekend as we are taking my buddy's little brother out for a junior tag.

First thanks to those that sent advice and pms birddog especially.
We got to hunt one day then got snowed out on Monday. We saw 6 bucks Sunday morning before my 12 year old decided that he liked this big forky . We snuck up a tree line and got him a good rest as the deer moved through an opening. He waited till he had a good clear shot at 125 yards. I asked him after the shot to call the placement of his shot before we got to the deer, I feel this helps the kids focus better on shot placement. He was a little high but double lung behind the shoulder just where he said.
Thanks again
(Ill post more photos when I can down load them)

PS. You'll find bigger bucks during archery.
