Archery Hunting for Elk on Type 1 Change?

I heard that Wyoming was going to discontinue allowing early archery hunting for elk on the Type 1 license starting in 2018 in some units, however I have not been able to find any information stating that. Had anyone else heard anything about this? I called Fish and Game and they indicated that it would indeed be voted on in March, however applications are due at the end of January for Non Residents. It kind of makes it tough to apply without knowing if you can hunt in September or not. Just wondering what everyone else thinks of this??? If it passes, I was told it be implemented immediately, so you'd potentially have a few hundred license holders that thought they could archery hunt early that will no longer be able to. Doesn't make much sense to me!

It varied from unit to unit. Some allow type 1 tag holders to start hunting September 15 if they purchase the archery permit even though there are type 9 tags in that unit.

Yes, but the OP said "early" archery hunt, which I took to mean first 1/2 of September.

That would definitely ruin part of my fall plans. I would find it hard to believe they would make a change that would effect guys who had already drawn a tag but I guess it's possible. Anyone in the know have more information?

I just called the Cheyenne office to ask. The woman I spoke with said she would look into this and email me back. I asked specifically about General season areas as that is what I plan to hunt next fall. Her response; "We are unaware of archery seasons being taken away from the general licenses."

The unit I had called about was 41. The lady I talked to on the phone told me that it was going to be voted on in march. She said it was voted on last year, however it didn't pass last year, but likely could this year

yep but a warden told a guy on mm they were dropping the special archery license for that hunt unit in 2018

There is a big increase in people in the unit on September 15, part of it due to the other tag holders. I have had type 1, 5, 6 and 9 in 45 and would rather they didn't allow this, but it's just my opinion.
