I've got a couple Colorado points and after talking with some people they suggested I put in for unit 44 this year since I would probably get it. But I had been researching some Idaho units and can't really seem to make a decision before time runs out for apps and I make a wrong decision.
Unit 44 definitely has some big bucks but I'm concerned about it being so thick and near impossible for an archery kill or spotting.

The Idaho units I looked at seem a little thinner and more open but still, from my research say there are some good bucks to be had if you put in the extra hiking.

Just wondering if 44 is really a good unit for archery hunters to find success if I should keep building points? (I have 2 in Co for muleys)

No I haven’t. I’ve been in arizona a couple times and been to Wyoming, and Montana but never Colorado. I’ve don about as much research as I can digitally that’s why I thought I’d give it a shot in the dark here before I take a leap of faith and use my points. I’ve got a trip planned for a 4/5 day weekend to go scout wherever I choose.

Take it for what it's worth. I'm not a big fan of GMU44. The times I've been in there.....I wasn't convinced the forage was there to produce good horns. Things may have changed and yes there are some good deer in there but I don't think of the quality and numbers from years past.

Well thats why I'm here to at least get some kind of guidance or suggestion. I would much rather waste a trip on an OTC tag than waste a trip and points. I'm going to be limited to one trip this year so I want to make it a good one. I've planned the dates off work for at least 10 days including weekends, I just need to nail down where.
