Ill be trying to do alot of internet research and want to scout at least one weekend in August and one in September but was wondering if anybody has hunted this area (modoc national forest)

Grimreaper, I've never hunted that zone though you may want to call the region DFG office and ask to talk to the area biologist.sorry I'm not much help.

Thanks I started putting in for that zone after going on a motorcycle trip to Oregon, when i was on the 139 there were so many deer on the road I had to keep reving so that they would get out of my way, from what I keep reading no matter what scouting you do if a storm comes through everything changes. They stay up high while its hot but come down after the first bit of weather

Had the tag last year, tough hunt the first several days as it was warm with little to no weather. Last few days of the hunt it got better. Passed on a pretty decent 5x4 day before the last day, took a decent 4 point the last morning. PM if you need more info.

Grimreapers, I do believe this zone includes the "devils garden " area which has a great history. You may want to pm take em bucks and bulls, I'm not sure if he is a guide in that area or could recommend on, since you have such a long drive and only one weekend to scout?

A little research and some pm's, Google earth, and topos could accomplish a lot.
It's a fantastic zone with loads of potential. Good luck to the two of you.
