Any Whitetail hunters out there?

Since I live in Nebraska, I spend a great deal of my fall chasing whitetails in addition to my short trips further West to chase elk, antelope, or mule deer. Just wondering how many others out there are getting excited for the whitetail rut in the next few weeks. Although there is nothing like strapping on a pack and getting out in the wilderness for a week straight, it's great to be able to go out after work for a few hours and have a chance at shooting a big buck.

Heck yeah! Was out this morning, but didn't see anything. The young bucks are starting to cruise a little, with a little chasing and grunting, but the mature bucks haven't been very active during daylight. Starting next weekend, I'll be out in the woods every minute I can. Good luck to all.

I have been chasing white tails sice I started hunting. They finally started moving in central and western Ks since the weather is cooling off. Cant wait for the rut to start. I couldnt take it any longer so I smoked a doe last week.

I'm getting pumped for the rut in SE KS. Went out last Fri. morning and jumped a few does. I'm not seeing much action from the bucks just yet, but the next few weeks should be good. It seems like someone always shoots a good deer around here on Halloween night.

I filled my doe tag during muzzleloader in Sept. and now I can just focus on a good buck. Got a great new spot picked out that's a super travel corridor they should be cruising looking for does.

I've often wondered how much more success I would have if I devoted a solid week to nothing but hunting like I do out west. Anyway, there aren't many things as wonderful as crisp mornings on the stand when bucks are out looking for does. It just feels like home!

I hunt in the sandhills of NE, you never know what you're going to find. Mule deer and whitetail almost run together here. It's great! Although I think the whitetail population needs thinning out. That's why I got several doe tags and whitetail are on the hit list.

I'll be headed out here soon. I'm after a wallhanger or nothing as usual. My son turns 12 November 20th. I'm more excited for him to go out and find his first buck to trip his trigger. I remember my first buck like it was yesterday. I was so jacked up i emptied my gun on him..lol. Luckily he must of been one of those "special" deer and stood there while i loaded one more bullet.

my uncle has a big chunk of woods in west virgina and i love to chase white tails there. i plan all year to be there for the first week in nov. every year. but because of other hunts i have not made it back in the last 2 years. that all changes this year!!!!!! nov. 6th will find me bow in hand,20 feet up a cherry tree in a spot we call "the pallet" with the worlds biggest smile on my face. the rut really starts getting hot about the 3rd or 4th. so it should be perfect.:)

Got blinds out Saturday so the deer can get used to them before the rifle season. Been glassing some hot spots from a distance too, but no shooters moving yet in the daylight.

Yeah, things are starting to heat up here in Michigan. I saw a nice 120-130" buck, which is pretty big for my area, Sunday night at 40 yards. Unfortunately, he was hauling butt out of his bed as I was pulling my bow up in the treestand. I never saw him walking in but he must have watched me as I walked in within 40 yards from him and climbed into my stand. Then decided he was out of there. Pretty dissappointed to blow a nice buck out like that. The small ones are starting to chases this week though and taking some time off next week so hopefully the big boy will be on his feet then.

Headed out for a week starting next weekend (Nov 5th - Nov 12th) I can't wait to get out there and try to get a good buck with my bow. Hoping it stays cooler out and the bucks are moving. Very Excited here!

Good luck to you all. As many have indicated, things are just starting to heat up and will only get better next week. Let's see some pictures of some bucks on the ground!

I screwed up on about a 130" 8-point this morning. This occurred in a heavily hunted area where a bow hunter is lucky to shoot any 6 or 8-point. He came in quick and so quiet I wasn't ready when he hit my shooting lane. I had to re-position my feet and get my bow between my two trees. He was at 12 yards, and sensed the movement, and slowly bounded and then walked off. Maybe I'll have another opportunity in the coming days. Good luck to everybody out there.

Thanks Reflex, yes it is a recent kill. I got him on October 16th. I wasn't really expecting to see a deer of this caliber this early on but everyone gets lucky every now and then. He is almost 23" inside and the short tines on his right side are from a injury to his opposite rear leg. I can kill one more buck and can't wait for the weekend to get here. Good luck to you
