Hunted this unit this fall and just curious to see if anyone has any tips, pointers, observations or any other relevant intel. Going back next fall with a better game plan.

I believe this is the Pryor Mountains... I looked into applying for that unit last year. I have a friend who is a game warden out of red lodge and knows that area pretty well. He told me that deer populations are really average, and without access to private property, the chances of finding big bucks is small. He has mentioned that the south side of the unit is where he would hunt. It's wide open and desert like. Lots of coulees and canyons to hunt. I have been over there a few times and think it looks great. The good news is that the unit is not very big, so if you want to switch it up after a few days, it's a short drive. He has mentioned to stay away from the reservation. He has had issues with the tribe running all the deer back onto the reservation with aircraft, and horses. Not sure how true that is, but worth taking note of.
