Thanks. I have been shooting 300 gr. Hornady SP and Speer 285 Grand Slams for years, but will give the Accubonds a try.
I bet that is a good load.
I have have good success with the 250gr. Swift A-Frame too. Group well with my 375.. I've only shot Sitka Blacktail with them on Kodiak Island but they gave me confidence if I bumped into a brown bear.

Would love to do a sitka blacktail hunt in the near future, have though the .375 might be ideal for that situation, or perhaps the .300wsm, but I hear about guys using 270 etc... not sure I want to with a smaller caliber with the possibility of big bears.
From the looks of things the 270grs loads seemed to be a great do all, and the 300grs when needed, say cape buffalo etc... not sure they're needed for brown bears?
I have hunted Kodiak a lot over the years and killed lots of Blacktails. 95 percent of the time a .270 would have been perfect, though I never used one. I occasionally used my .300 Weatherby which seemed a little light once and made me wish I had my .375.
I will say, other than a few I took with a bow, I killed most of the Blacktail with my .375H&H and bullets from 235 to 270 grain and they all worked fine if you hit them just right! I used to shoot a 8X68s and killed several with it too.

I tried the 260 accubonds, they shot OK. But mine likes 235 gr. Barnes X BT's. Unfortunately, Barnes quit making them, now they're Flat base. My .375 shoots both the 235's & the 270 gr. Barnes equally well. The .235's perform the best on elk.
I will have to take a look at those Barnes 235's. I don't shoot far enough to worry about flatbase vs bt.
I have not shot anything except the accubonds and 250 gr Sierra's in mine. If the Barnes don't shoot that well in mine, I could give them a try in JDJ, I have been looking for a replacement bullet for 225 grn Honrnaday's.

I want to shoot (Sitka) with my pistol, so I will have to carry a decent size bear rouster in case of unfriendlies,

What caliber of pistol are you planning on using?
A .44 mag is quite capable of dropping a bear if you are in a tight spot. Other than that I would pack a 12 ga loaded with slugs if you are worried about bears.

I found like 8 boxes of 270gr Hornady bullets on a clearance shelf at our local store for like $6 a box, so I bought them all. I also have a couple of bags of 300gr Partitions from ShootersProShop, and this thread makes me think its time to get that rifle out and start messing with it some again. Its been too long.

That is a real deal on the 270 gr. Hornady bullets. They shoot well in my 375 H & H rifles. I think they are a little soft for big stuff and prefer a heavier bullet, but they are a great deer and elk bullet.
