Any 264wm believers out there?

Its still in the worx just waiting for a set of tally lightweight rings to mount the vortex scope. Once the scope is on that will be the deciding factor. Keep it a .264 or go the .284 or creedmore route.

My dad gave me his 264 in pre 64 Winchester. Love the old bugger, but the 26" stainless barrel wasn't very handy on my one and only dall sheep hunt. I also have a 270 WSM. I like it too.

Nothing wrong with either cartridge.

Doesn't the .264win.mag require something in the 24-26" barrel range?
Don't forget about the 6.5-284norma

Personally I'd rather have a rifle in the 22-24" barrel range.

I keep reading about guys wanting a .264 weatherby mag. something to keep an eye out for?

Mine may be the sporty model. I believe the barrel is a 22". Once I get it back from cerakote I want to research more on the numbers.

Looks really nice!

Do you know what bullet you want to try? Especially with the shorter barrel I'd be on the lookout for the new 129gr Accubond Longrange to keep velocity up. They have been awful hard to find, might want to have them waiting for the rifle to arrive. As I said earlier, the 140gr accubond or Berger have performed real well for me too.

We ended up shooting close to a hundred rounds trying to find a good load. Ended up with 130's. this is a 5 shot group @200 yards w/15 mph crosswinds. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1376153908.561858.jpg

I'm familiar with .257 weatherby and didn't realize folks were wildcatting the cartridge by necking it up to a .264. Learn something all the time.

Even with the flier it's still a pretty nice group! I have been watching this thread with interest since you started it. I picked up a fairly early push feed M70 in .264 about the time you started yours. I have been working with the 140 grain bullets so far, I would like to try the Accubond long range but I haven't seen them yet. Mine has a 24" barrel that I will replace with something longer and heavier when it's time to swap barrels. I just put a Hogue stock on mine and topped it off with a 4.5-14 Leupold MK4 PR. My goal is an 8" steel plate at 880 yards. If I can get a good load worked up in time I will take it pronghorn hunting this fall!

We have had much better luck with 130 lately. We tried like hell to make the 140's tight because a buddy bought a bunch for his creedmore that did not work out very well and he offered to give them to me. Here is a pic of yesterdays loads. All with reloader 22.
the sgk 130 did great.
but the pic in yesterdays post was the 130 black tip. And setting the pills out as far as possible made a drastic difference also. 60.5 is looking like the magic #. The recent pics are with me behind the trigger. Mind you I haven't shot a rifle in a couple years since I started bowhunting. My confidence is thru the roof!

Thanks, I'll have to give the 130s a try. Nice shooting rifle!

Back from the depths on this one. Wife surprised me for Father's Day. Dropped off the ole .264 at the gunsmith without my knowledge. Had a new barrel installed. Schillen # 3 stainless 1:8 twist 26" complete with new muzzlebreak and fluted to the max. I also revamped this gun a while ago with a 16x hst viper scope instead of the 12x. Antelope better hide!! I'll get some better pics. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1434889356.949095.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1434889373.580709.jpg
Gift also accompanied a card which stated " muzzlebreak $xxx
Fluting $xxx
Barrel $xxx
Labor $xxx
Epoxy and misc $xxx
Cerakote $xxx

Knowing your kids will learn to hunt with same gun there daddy learned on. PRICELESS.
