What month do usually muledeer and whitetail stop growing antler max, when they hit there peak for the year? Are they at 80-90% yet? i have some trail cam pics and was trying to think when they are done growing.

Depends where you're at......I've seen them rubbed out by the 3rd week of August in Northern Arizona while others are in velvet until the 2nd week of September in the high-country of Colorado.

Of course in parts of California, they are beginning to rub out now.

I have a buck that is somewhere in the 140-150" range right now. Could he put on 20-25" on in the next 4 weeks to hit 165-170? I know they are adding length and still good growth left, but can he add 5" a week? Thanks guys and sorry for the hijack

I would tend to say no, but you just never know what a particular buck can do. My guess would be about 1/2 of what you suggested.

He was 140-150 in the beginning of July. And from the last part of June to the beginning of July, about 9 days he had around 10" or more of new growth. So if he has that growth rate I think he could get 170, but I won't know if that rate continue until I get back out there next weekend and find him again. The last time I saw him the ends of every point was still balled up good. So idk, just wondering what other more experienced hunters think

The blacktails where I am from are on a much different schedule then most other deer. Rifle season opens second saturday in august and it is rare to see a buck killed opening day with any velvet left at all. Rut is in September too. If you get a year where August starts on a sunday and the season runs late the last few days can be pretty interesting!

I guess so! That's hard to believe that a buck would be hard and stripped that early anywhere.
