Antelope

I'm into the points game on a smaller scale on both elk and deer in CO.
Is it worth dabbling in antelope here? Like every state, the prices keep skyrocketing.

I've always liked hunting them in WY, but it never hurts to have another option. But I'm not into the pp for 5+ yrs to draw some great unit. I hunt hard in an average to good unit and do quite well and can do so every few years by rotation states and species.

(Co residents please abstain from "keep hunting in WY" comments)

What's opinions are out there in EF as the deadline draws near?

I jumped in this year. For just $9 more, I figure it would be silly not to. Haven't really looked at what it's taking to draw a decent tag though..

5+ pp for a great unit? We don't really have great antelope units here.

I am going into the 2019 season with 11 antelope points in the attempt to draw a unit relatively close to my home that is considered a yellow chip unit by Eastman's. I suspect this is because of the % of public land available.

Certainly there are antelope in CO, but not nearly the opportunity as WY. Sure, if you want to put in for CO, go right ahead, but just know that many of the units in CO with antelope have plenty of private land to deal with. In the meantime, I wouldn't give up on WY and would continue to hunt there while waiting on your CO chance.

I have hunted antelope in Wyoming for 40 years. I retired and moved to Colorado 20 years ago. I hunted a unit here in Colorado along the Wyoming border that was almost all public land. Lots of hunter, also lots of goats. That was many years ago, since then I saved my points and used 15 for a hunt along the New Mexico border. Almost no hunters and still plenty of goats. Unfortunately the eastern part of Colorado (east of the Rockies) is almost all private and is prime habitat.

I am still hunting Wyoming...hard to beat.

I only apply in colorado because I live here. I've only killed 4 bucks here my entire life. I hunt a poor unit that when I started took 2 points, then 5 and now around 9 I think.
On the other hand I've killed around 30 including does in wyoming which is about a 5 hour drive to where I usually hunt .

Its been years since I have hunted Antelope, I would routeenly draw in the zones around Farson and never had a shortage of goats to shoot. I now understand that the areas between Rock Springs and Farson require 4-6 points to draw ? Id like to go next year (to Wyoming) anyone have suggestions where I wouldnt be dodging too many other hunters?
