Looking for a new spot to try. I will be taking my son on his first antelope hunt as well as his grandfather. Me and grandpa will have 4.5 points each. My son will be doing a tress pass hunt in a left over tag area so he can start building points. I have been antelope hunting in WY several times, so I am not new to it. I know that big bucks can be in any unit regardless of the points it takes to draw. I'm not concerned about best place for best chance at a big buck. We will either hunt last week in Sept or first in Oct, which should help with the crowds in the unit me and grandpa will be hunting. What I am looking for is good numbers so we can see lots of antelope and look over a lot of bucks, Were not going to shoot the first one we see, but not holding out for a 80"er. Also easy access and low pressure .

So I am looking for advice on a couple units:

First 90 has my interest, 90-1 or 90-2? 90-1 is east of 191 and vice versa for 90-2, what shocked me was quota is higher for 90-1 (225 vs 125) and has less land. Looks like possibly lots of oil fields in this area. Anybody have any incite on this section?

65 & 66 also have my interest but may not even be able to draw them by 2018, will know more after next years draw.

75 is on the list as I have been in there several times but I am concerned with the increase in quota this year. Went up 50 last year and a 100 this year. So wondering what numbers actually looked like this year, I'll be watching this for reports after 2017 hunts.

63 is on the list as should be an easy draw, but have never stepped foot in it.

I hunted 80 several years ago and it was a bad drought year and numbers were down, still the case?

Last on the list is 83, also another unit I haven't stepped foot in.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I know we will have fun no matter what unit above we pick.

Thanks

G&F has their hunting forecast out on the website and it specifically addresses the antelope numbers and fawn production in several different units. Give it a look.

Have you looked at Guy's WY antelope MRS table? That should be very helpful.

90-2 has had tag #s reduced three years in a row, not a good sign, so I would choose 90-1 of those two. Unit 83 is a good unit, so is 75 and tags going up is a good sign. Unit 63 is a step down but not bad. 63-2 has a lot more pressure.

I don't think you will get 90-1 or 90-2 with 4.5 points unless you do the special. Hunted 90-2 a year ago great unit 90-1 is also. Might as well try for a doe tag too in the draw. Camping at Fontenelle sp? Lake is pretty good right below the dam. Watch out for the coons little buggers opened up one of our coolers and made off with an antelope shoulder. PM me for more info if you want too
