I'd say that with the good forks, height, and mass that buck your buddy shot has that he's not far off from yours and is definitely better than a 150s deer that you guys were after. Just those extras on the back on both sides will add a lot of inches and may take him past yours in gross score. You guys had one heck of a hunt killing those two big bucks on a first hunt and I hope you don't think it will be that easy/good the next time! PS: I missed the coordinates you said you guys were hunting at, LOL!!!

Yeah, two real good bucks. Similar in score. I'd say your buddy's looks a bit bigger and edges into the low to mid 170's with the extras.

Topgun my buck came almost too easy and I was just flat lucky to get him opening day! I found him and several other bucks my first day scouting and watched him do the same thing the for two evening prior to the opener. Opening evening you could tell he was a little more on edge, but it still worked out. I'd rather be lucky than good any day! LOL! My buddy's buck required a little more work! I found his buck a week later since I was tagged out and just running around scouting and trying to learn the area. I located my buddy's buck with a group of does one morning and watched him go to bed while he was hunting a different area. I was about 1/2 a mile from his buck and just watched what he did. The next morning we made our move and luckily he did the same thing and my buddy took him at 250 yards. We definitely may never top that hunt, but I'd be ok with that too. It's all about the memories!

Hermmm...I must be the only one judging the height via the width of the buck. It looks like he is well inside his ears in the first pic and he isn't much taller than he is wide. I'm sticking with 150s, maybe touching 160 gross with those couple of extra points.
