I have a lot of Leupold products and have had good luck with them up until the VX-6 line. I have 2 of those scopes that have issues with proper return to zero after dialing elevation. I have 4 of the VX-6 scopes with the CDS and the only 2 I dialed much have issues. The others I just don't use the CDS on, I treat them like it isn't even there. The glass is amazing in them and I love the TMOA reticle. In low light they as bright as my Z5 Swaro scope. I need to send in both the ones I am having issues with and see what they do. The others I put on rifles I don't need to dial and have not had issues once they are zeroed. I would still get turrets for them if I trusted the CDS system.
I mounted two of these scopes myself with a Wheeler kit like was used in the picture above. I'd level the rifle in a vice and lap the rings, then mounted the scope and re-checked the level on everything before tightening with the included torq wrench. The others I had my gunsmith mount on the rifles he built me. On the ones that have issues I mounted one and he did the other.
If this issue was fixed I really feel they have something going. The low light capability, field of view, and reticle impress me. I really want the low light capability the 3-18x50 on my 264WM has for whitetail hunting. I don't think anything else will top it until you get to the Swaro X5 series that has a turret system I'd trust. Reasonably light weight, awesome glass, and reliable turrets are hard to find without spending a lot of money.
