Well it is almost time to leave PA for Wyoming. Should be on the road by 7 p.m. tonight for the long haul west. Just depends on when my father gets off work. Got antelope tags that we'll try to fill the beginning of next week to the east, then heading to elk camp to the west for the rifle opener. Been waiting for this day for 3 years now. Good luck to all others, maybe we'll run into you along the way!

We were able to take 2 end of season diy heavily-hunted public land bucks. That was so enjoyable to see/guide dad to his first antelope. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures with my phone here to upload, but I will try when we get back home. What a great trip so far as i have seen my first sheep and mountain goats in person. We are headed to elk camp today for the opener tomorrow. Good luck to all of you headed out as well. I'll be in touch the middle of next week!

My bull. A small 6x6 but what I was looking for. Had the herd of at least 50 run in to us at 20 yards. As soon as I saw him round the bend, I followed him until had the clearest opening possible. He cut off in front of us and passed at 30 yards but I had no shot. I start running after him and shoot down on him through upper chest area. This brings him to a broadside shot, where I put one in the vitals to anchor him for good. When he tips over he goes 100 feet over the edge of a canyon where he falls as you can see in the picture.
My father didn't get to pull the trigger on any, but he was sooooo close a couple of times. The second evening in the same general area that I got mine, a good looking 5x5 comes out to feed behind a spike. James and I took watch on a ridge, while Heath and Dad move in for a shot. Wouldn't you know it, just 15 yards shy of popping up over the hill, he turns and heads back to where he came from. Dad also had a spike in his sights at 400 yards, but didn't have a good rest to shoot from. We had blast though and am bringing some meat home.20151012_120535.jpg

I am headed out next year for antelope hunt from PA too. How long was the drive out and back? What zone were you in?

We hunted in area 16. You can expect at least 32 hours one way straight through on 80 then up 29 I believe at the Iowa/Nebraska border to 90. It's long, but I enjoy it, especially in October, being harvest season.
