Affordable sleeping bag?

I use a kelty cosmic down 20*. Pretty roomy, 2.5 lbs, down, was $140 at rei. With all my layers on, on an ok pad, i weathered a 20* storm with 25mph winds comfortably. That said, buckbull above has a good point with alps - my gf just bought a 3lb 5* syn bag at big 5 for $25! If you arent counting ounces, and cant afford the 3-600 dollar bags, Id go cheap.

It's been said that, cheap, light weight, good, you can only have two. That said, I swear by my Marmot Helium. 15* 2 lb. I think I paid around $300. That and an Exped insulated pad and I've weathered some cold nights just fine.
