I'm looking for a light weight day pack for my wife. She has the Eberlstock gun runner right now and she doesn't like it as it moves side to side on her back. She is 5'7'' and slim, she doesn't want hydration bladder but she likes a pocket for her water bottle. She will not pack a gun or spotting scope.
Any recommendation will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Eric.

If she isn't needing it to be camo....try going to REI or the like and getting fitted to a good pack there! Seems to me companies that build hunting packs are still stuck in the 90's military grade mode and that means they dont think about the human factor the pack rides on....
They can market the shit out of them though.... And we usually think that means they work well. This is also why we see so many hunters having so many packs...we cant find one that really works.!

Hunting pack manufactures are getting better every year though... I would give my specifics.. But they are what fit me. Honestly she needs to go be fitted by a pack specialist, then get the details of what waist band size, what harness length, and what pack volumn it was and try to shop with those specs in mind while looking for the perfect pack.

I bought my wife a badlands that is designed for women. I apologize I can't remember the name of it. She loves it and fits her very well. She is the same size as our wife. It looks similar to the one that ikeepitcold posted. Hope this helps.

My wife used to use a Gunrunner but didn't like it either so I replaced it with a Mystery Ranch Bighorn. They (MR) did away with water bottle pockets on the outside on the newer ones for some reason. I heard to cut weight? Anyway, you may be able to track down an older one somewhere. I found a barely used one on another forum and saved a lot of money. The Dragon Slayer is really nice too and weights about a pound less. Not sure if the older model of those had water bottle pockets though. Or, for that matter, if there even was an older model. All in all, for what it's worth, that's what my wife will be using from now on.

If she isn't going to be hauling a ton of weight I would go with a pack from REI. They will be lighter and more comfortable than a low end hunting pack. For backpacking packs I am partial to arc'teryx and Gregory but any of the packs will do. We are currently upgrading my wifes pack to a kifaru bt3. It fits her very well and is an extremely well made pack.

I would look into a pack made by Osprey. They are great packs and they make quite a few womens specific models. I've packed out elk in them and they will hold up to a beating.

My wife has a small frame 5'2" - 105 lbs..., so most packs do not fit her. With that said, the KALI works great as a day pack and the DIABLO is a great multi day pack. Both are manufactured by Badlands, both are extremely solid packs, they come in AP or MAX-1 and the wife has really used both in the field - SO THEY WORK... http://www.badlandspacks.com
