My buddies and I have each accumulated 5 WY antelope points and want to apply for a tag this year. We have all hunted antelope in WY before, but that was in the 90's, so we need some help. We don't expect to take a 80" buck but would like to see some decent animals. We don't mind hiking a long way from the roads to get away from the crowds. We are thinking about areas 67,59,75,90,91,96, but we are open to any suggestions. Thanks, Skip

This will be a bad year for 67...not very many 4 1/2 year old bucks available...missing an age-class...biologist stumped...

Any of those areas you listed can produce an 80 inch antelope. You'll only have one shot at drawing one of them. None can be draw as a second choice. I'd call the regional biologist and the game warden for each area and see what they say.
the 2014 Eastman's WY MRS for deer and antelope would be very helpful also.

Thanks Fish, I have been using the 2014 WY MRS to narrow down the areas that we can draw. We just want a hunt that's worth waiting 5 years for. Maybe we should get a couple more points before we apply.

I think you can have a great hunt with 5 points if you're not looking specifically for an 80+ antelope. Any of those areas could produce a low to mid-70s buck with a little effort and restraint on the trigger. I hunted 96 about 6 years ago on my first ever goat hunt. Most of the animals were north of the highway that runs into Farson and splits the unit.

Bucks in the mid to high 70's and even bigger get shot every year in plenty of leftover units. Thus I wouldn't worry too much about building up a ton of points for a primo unit and would instead go hunting.

Have you guys looked at #61 or #62? Red Desert area, I think they may have reduced the quota in one or perhaps both. Buy either are good areas for big goats.
