I chambered a lever gun in it for competition

It was tactical lever. I had a Marlin action laying around so I ordered a barrel and parts from Bishop. The state my brother lived in you couldn't use a AR to hunt so we suppressed it and it did great for whitetail.

What were you running for bullets? Anything stand out performance wise?

The 302 Xtreme penetrator is devastating on deer out the 16in barrel suppressed. The HSM bear load pack a punch. But with certain reload I can get close 45-70 performance in the smaller gun.

Some of my 45-70 kick like mule but others don't. I grew up shooting 348 and 450 marlin for me its lighter

I shot a Sharps in 45-70 with black powder in 1000 yard matches. In my experience, recoil is totally related to bullet weight, the heavier the bullet, then heavier the recoil.

I love my 45-120 for the quigley matches.

I hear you on that. I really enjoy the blackpowder shoots. I started in the military classic shoots
