Because it is a National Park.

I think that they are still trying to figure out how to hunt the bison in the Grand Canyon National Park. Plus the requirements that they were putting on the few hunters were something else. Along with not being able to keep all the meat.

The interesting piece here is they cannot figure out why the wolves aren't surviving. The last pack went down to 2 wolves and then they added 4 more with 1 dying within a couple weeks and 1 going back to the main land. It will be interesting to see what happens with these other 4 on the island.

I was planning a trip out there just to take some time to backpack and have been following along because I hear the amount of moose on there is incredible and I am thinking it is dangerous at this point with those big bulls running around all over the place. I could see them doing something similar as to the Bison heard with some crazy requirements if they cannot get the wolves to survive long term.
