When you are in the salt belt even washing the wheel wells out doesn't help. I have friends up in the north east who have 5 year old trucks that look like they are 30 years old.Wash out the wheel wells occasionally.
the wheel wells are double walled and the salt gets in between the steel and rusts from the inside out. There is no way to wash it out. When you are in the salt belt even washing the wheel wells out doesn't help. Sweet setup. I wish I was that fast at swapping out engines! My square body 90 suburban needs more power, especially when puking a trailer. It is pretty gutless. I had the gears changed to 410s this year which helped but asking the 350 to do much more than get the heavy chunk of steel that is the burb down the highway isn't going to happen.Well hunting season is over so it’s back to work on the Ol Jeep. Pulled the engine and transmission out and finally going to paint it. It’s been 27 years since the last paint job and it shows. I also picked up a smaller milder engine for the street and sand dunes. A 383 will be going in it so I can save wear and tear on my 427. It doesn’t take me long to swap engines so I will put the 427 back in for race seasons. Winters would be long without my garage projects.View attachment 38058
I'm not familiar with the 632. That sounds like a beast! How hard would that be to put that in my 1/2 ton 90 and pull the 350?Yeah, those 350’s aren’t much for power. They will run forever though! You’ll have to drop in one of the new Chevy 632’s that would pull your trailer just fine.
Pretty cool! and I like the antler wall in the background.Well hunting season is over so it’s back to work on the Ol Jeep. Pulled the engine and transmission out and finally going to paint it. You just need a garden Variety 454. The beauty of Chevrolet is a big block will bolt right in, all you need to change is exhaust and ECM.
What engine and gear ratio does it have out of curiosity?I recently picked up a 1981 F-250 project truck, converting it into a hunt rig. I was surprised by its gas mileage - it gets 18-20 if you run decent gas in it. Of course with only a 4-spd manual it's not going very far above 55, which helps!![]()
