Wash out the wheel wells occasionally.
When you are in the salt belt even washing the wheel wells out doesn't help. I have friends up in the north east who have 5 year old trucks that look like they are 30 years old.

the wheel wells are double walled and the salt gets in between the steel and rusts from the inside out. There is no way to wash it out.

This is my dads 58 Chevy Apache. He bought it in 1971 He drove it every day for about twenty years. It’s had several different engines in it over the decades 350, 396, 427, 454 and now blown 509 with 1000 HP. He can’t drive it anymore but my dear brother put it back together so he can at least see it run. He’s 78 years old now and has dementia, he sometimes thinks he sold it. I grew up in this truck, it’s crazy how much a chunk of iron can mean so much to someone.35741this was 1979-80? brother Roy on the left,me on the right.

35753I ran against dads truck yesterday with brother Roy at the wheel. It’s a fast truck for sure! Not quite as fast as my Jeep though 😝
