Will be working up loads for my 35 Whelen before too long.

I have Fed large rifle primers, Hornady 200gr spire pt Interlocks; hoping to work up a sensible deer load to start.

I have IMR 8208, but interested in hearing what else has worked well; or any experience with 8208.

Thanks!

Any medium to medium fast powder will work. RL15 best for its temp stability. Lotta old timers got the best accuracy with the 4064.

RL 15, Varget and 8208XBR - newer

IMR 3031, IMR 4064, IMR4320, IMR 4895, BLC(2) and H 4895 - older

Depending what you can get your hands on the choices would be #1) RL15 #2) 8208 and all the rest #3

Havn't reloaded for the 35 Whelen, but large capacity, heavy bullets need slow burning powders. I use Reloader 25 in my .300 Wby, might be worth a look in the powder burn rate tables, along with others.

I dont think that 35 W is in the large capacity case class. Its just a little ( 5 grains or less ) more than most 30-06 loads) Most loads top out at 54-55gr.
Your 300 Weatherby Mag is up in the 75 gr region I believe.

Thanks for the ideas, guys; will see if I can get my hands on some of these other powders. I have RL-19 and 8208 XBR in hand. A buddy has some RL-15; but he's short on large rifle primers. May work a deal. lol
