I just had a custom .300 WM built It was a Remington XCR 2 when I bought it new. It will do the job on any big game animal in North America. I have killed elk and deer with it and it stops them dead. Buy one and have a brake installed. With a brake I can shoot it prone off of my backpack and the recoil is minimum. Great cartridge. If you go with it check out the Nosler Accubonds. They shoot well out of mine. I have tried custom loads and Nosler factory ammo. My gun shoots both at .75" or better.
My bro shoots a Savage LRH in .300 WM and his gun shoots sub MOA with factory Nosler ammo as well. Savage makes a damn good rifle. The LRH has an adjustable brake and the barrel is free floated.
