This round is intriguing to say the least. I bet it kicks like a ex-wife!
It'd be a hand-load round unless it catches on in the future.

I think that it will be a bigger hit that others in it's class just do to the fact that you can purchase factory ammo. It is almost identical ballistic wise with the 7mmSTW which has been out for quite a while and suffered from no factory loaded cartridges for quite a while not to mention that all rifles were custom jobs.

Personally I am more intrigue with the 26 Nosler which uses the same brass but it s silly millimeter smaller.

I reload already so hand-loading isn't a concern for me. And I bet it does have a kick. 85-90 grs of powder should let me shoulder know when I pull the trigger!

Anyone try a 28 Nosler. Thoughts and impressions? Looking at the ballistics it seems like a hot shooting gun with some good power.
Did you consider a .280 AI ? Pretty darned good performance in 7mm and not as much powder burned to achieve it, and a LOT less recoil I'm pretty sure.

I like my 280AI, but the 28 is another level of performance to me. Definitely has some potential with the heavy bullets out there.

usually the best design isn't the first to market and/or not the most popular.

if you handload it really doesn't matter.

if you're looking for something very particular, I understand those who go that route.

but if you're trying to get 5% more performance and the risk of never being able to find ammo in a store etc... I'm not sure it's worth it.

Does it do something for you that the,
270wsm 7mm wsm 300wsm
7mm Rem.Mag.
300 win mag, RUM, weatherby

doesn't do?

good luck, let us know what you decided.

Also what range do you really ever expect to shoot game at with this cartridge?
My general view is that unless we're talking much over 500 or 600 yards BCs don't matter as much until past these ranges and me personally probably will never shoot an animal past 600yds, and probably 400 would be way out there.

flatter doesn't do a whole lot for me, if I know the range, and trajectory of my bullet...
if you know where your bullet will be at certain ranges, and it has enough energy to kill, accuracy matters more.

If you are looking for a very good ultra long range shooter, the 28 Nosler would be tough to beat, with the 180-195 grain bullets we have available now, IMO. For me, 600 is my max, its as far as I can regularly practice. I've only shot one animal over 400, so my LR outfit is a 280 Rem that launches 145 LRX's at just over 3,000fps, it's money to 600, if I have little wind, steady rest and do my part.
