2023 FISHING THREAD

Got the rv out of the barn and cleaned it up and am packing for a week at Blue Mesa near Gunnison. We are leaving Monday morning with 4 other couples. Life long friends and hunting and fishing friends too. One thing for sure, it will be a lot cooler there. Been over 90 here for the last 3 weeks. We have a pontoon boat rented for some fishing, hope we catch some Kokanees. This is the huge Laker caught this spring from Blue Mesa. The fish was released.

Just got home from Blue Mesa. Fishing was pretty poor. Lake has an algae bloom and surface temp pretty warm. All the Kokanee are deep (70 to 100'). We trolled and without downriggers , couldn't get deep enough. Fished some where the Gunnison River enters the lake and caught a few rainbows.

Went out to pyramid lake and caught 4 0ver 25" and a few slot fish . Kept a couple for the smoker. Nice enough day we took the bass boat.

Just bought a new fish finder for my boat, courtesy of Black Friday. Got a Garmin Striker Vivid 7/9. It is color and has side scanning. Have to wait awhile to try it out next spring.
