I wish I had this week off work. I would be tearing those carp and gar up. The water temps will be perfect for the next three days. It was a bit cool for the carp and gar last weekend, but we still shot about 50-60 or so.
Those hybrid stripers and stripers that were in the picture fight super hard for what they are. We normally fish for them about 1-2 times a year. April is normally the time to do it.
My buddy drove the whole way from PA to fish for the weekend. It was our first time down to our camp for the year, so we had to do all of the work around the house and then we had 2 out of the 3 boats broke down and several batteries needed to be replaced so.
I'm so glad that I have a bulletproof boat setup. Those dang bass boats of my FIL and my wife's uncle are always broken down. I could NEVER own a bass boat...lol We had to work on both of them for 3 hours Friday to get them running. Those 250 HP motors have a LOT going on with them and it takes us a while to really address what the problem is because there is so much that could be causing the issue. IMHO, 90% of their problems can be contributed to using ethanol gas in their engines...
I check the oil and get in my loud mud boat (that I only run non-ethanol 93 in), hit the key, and go ripping up the lake. lol

Ethanol is poison for boats. Maybe would be ok if you were running every day but let em sit for a while and the engine won't start
@mallardsx2 - I got into the wipers in GA when we were up there. Did some white bass fishing and found the hybrids and stripers in the shade along some river near Canton. Fun to catch and eat!
Never got into the carp thing but have snagged and speared a few. Smelly!
an outboard that sits more than a month or so without running will usually cause trouble. Batteries fo the same. Ugh!
let me kniw if you come down this way. Usually looking for fish partners in June July August. I have the tackle.

Went night fishing and planned to fish with green light. A storm came in and stayed accuweather showed a 6% chance of rain. We pulled in under a covered dock and decided to fish anyway. Was able to catch a few shad in my nets. The walleye was thin after spawn.

Just got the new registration numbers and boat name and got them put on the new bought I bought over the winter. Got new plate for the trailer too. Going to start on my TO DO list to get ready for fishing season. Snow is melting and our local res (McFee) is filling fast. Probably a couple of weeks away from launching and catching some walleye , rainbows and Kokanees.

Got out Saturday night for some fishing under the green lights. This is what we kept. I don't normally keep any white bass but this one was deep hooked and would not have survived. The walleye was 23". We caught and released 20 Plus white bass. A little slower than expected, but still a decent catch on target fish.

Anybody see the picture on Facebook with the new pending world record Laker caught in Blue Mesa Res? It was 47" long, 37" girth and weighed 73.29#. What a pig! The fish was photographed and measured and released. It was posted by Sportsman's Warehouse.

I did see that. My dad sent me the link yesterday, what a hog! They said they also released one over 30 pounds just before they caught that one. Good for them!

My son and I caught a bunch of crappie and the occasional channel catfish Saturday. Released everything so didn't have many pictures to show.

That thing is ugly big. Probably produces a lot of eggs.

Took a few kids out yesterday morning. They caught 60-70 crappie as well as the occasional non-target fish. We only kept 22 big ones and a couple of white perch a young kid wanted to keep.

Up in the north country. Mtn creek runs thru property. Caught 1 for picture. Pretty fish. Released quickly.
The Atlantic red snapper season dates have been released - July 14 & 15. Total catch of 29,000 fish.
NOAA is trying to replicate a graph - supposedly from the 1980's that shows a large population and widespread age to the fish. We are supposedly about 1/2 way there. The only way to represent the older age class fish it to have them. The fish are all over the place.
They even give us "release aids" to drop the fish down and reduce barotrauma (the bends) from reeling them up. They send about $75 worth of gear to folks just for the asking thru a grant and the state college. https://returnemright.org/
