Hello to all

I am new here and I am looking for some information I have 15 preference points for Mule deer in Colorado and I would like to use them in 2019 so I am looking for a guided rifle hunt Prefer spot and stock but would consider stand hunting
I am not looking for 5 star lodge but I want a fair chance at a good mule deer buck
Thanks for your help

Best Regards

Go to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife web page and then to the satistics page under hunting. Then find the unit that you would like to hunt and see what the odds are for a non resident with 13 points and get them narrowed down. A lot of units that took 15 points this year will take 16 next year so finding a unit that takes a couple less should set up up pretty good.

But 15 points puts you into limbo land. Not enough to get into a premium unit with a late season hunt and too many to risk on a poor unit.

Pretty sure you don’t need a guide on a 15 point Colorado deer hunt to get a “good mule deer buck”!!

I would start by preordering this: 2018 MRS Annual

You will be able to reference all of the units that have the point range you are looking for that JimP referenced and then see some of the editorial that has been laid out. If you want the 2019 information after that add a subscription to the journals. Remember, the MRS isn't a comprehensive tell all system like some of the services out there. It is a tool to help the DIY hunter build a strategy with the data laid out for laymen like you and I.

Next up, if you are thinking of spending the coin on an outfitter, do as much research on the outfitter as you do on the unit itself!
