I haven't seen any posts on how this past winter has been out west. Just wondering if anyone had any insight? Here in the Midwest it has been another below average year for snow fall in central Wisconsin.

Average snowpack in our neck of the woods. We could use some moisture but not looking too bad right now.
Winter counts may not be as accurate due to animals being scattered instead of out on winter ranges. No big die offs so far.

Above average but the extended cold snaps were never bad enough to really kill a whole bunch of animals. Barring an April/May blizzard in the transitional range we should have good winter survival rates this year. We need it after last year.

Not much snow yet in Georgia. Dogwoods are about to bloom and that means crappie season.

I made the error of trying to get in on some early crappie here in Arkansas. Got caught on the other side of the lake during a sever thunderstorm Hail and lighting. The lake only allows electric motors. Had thoughts I might not make it back to the truck.

We tried last weekend and the water temp is still a bit cold. 55Degrees.

Need it to get above that 60 degree mark for the fishing to be very good here. 65 degrees and sunshine and we will fill the boat.

I would also be thinking about fires as well as winter kill. The low snowfall totals in parts of Colorado and SE Wyoming are likely going to lead to a tough fire season, which will likely have an effect on hunts. Watching the Denver news it appears some areas are only around half of normal snow so far and unlikely to improve a whole lot.

It's bee a very mild winter hear in the southwest WY. They didn't even feed the elk on the refuge this year.

Isn't it just nuts tho, either we have WAY too much snow or cold and its a bad kill off or like you brought up its a milder winter and now the focus turns to fire danger. Just cant win. poor critters
