I didn't wait at all. He took off over some rocks and the other side is a big area full of tall tall grass. Like 5 feet tall and I wanted to see where he fell. So I got on top of small rock hill and started glassing it and didn't see him then when I put binos down I seen him 30 yards right below me. He blew at me and hobbled off. It bothers me a great deal how little blood there was. Absolutely incredible how far they can travel with a hole right through the vitals! Arrow went right behind front shoulder and through rib on other side and brodhead was stuck in hide on other side. Explains lack of blood.

Curious... is your dog trained for this type of thing or did you just try it to see what happened? Details on how you went about it would be interesting. Nice buck too! Glad you found it.

He is a trained antler dog. After I couldn't find any more blood I decided to go get him to see if his nose would help find it. In glad I did, I never would have found it and all that meat would have been waisted.
