Great Bull!! Congrats. so he just wondered in? that never happens to me....I bet there's more to your story than that.
Actually, not much more. I started about 1/2 hr. before shooting light, so I wasn't far up the mountain at daylight. I blew my approach to a favorite feeding area, and was busted by a group of mule deer does. A little disgusted, I continued on and shortly spotted a large mule deer fork that I have seen before. He had me busted also, but was not too spooked at just over 100yds. I was circling a high basin trying to get in position on the buck, when I spotted the bull coming toward me. I had the wind in my favor and a few large blow downs forced him up the trail 21 yards away. I think someone on the other side had possibly moved him my way. He wasn't moving fast, just steady. I didn't think to cow call in order to stop him, so shot on the move. Hit was a little far back but angle was good so I cut the last rib on the entry side, punctured the diaphragm, pierced the liver and cut the second and third to last ribs on exit. He went 35-40 yards and I cow called twice and stopped him. 15 min later he dropped. By myself so the work began.
