Looks awesome! congrats!

Sako Finnight?
What cartridge? bullet?
How'd it perform?

Thinking about an A7 or Finnlight in .300 wsm... myself.

that is my buds rifle. it worked just fine. his was also in 300 wsm He put it in the vitals and the bull went 30 feet and fell over.
It was a very light rifle I remember.
It was a sako, but I don't recall the model.

roughly 10 g, but i tried to do it right, not cheap.
example would be, i chartered a plane from mcgrath to anchorage to get everything out, versus shipping and leaving stuff on the tarmac for days waiting on a freight plane.

Was that per person or total?

Matt, you thinking of a moose hunt? Caution they're addicting to hunt!
Yes but I don't think I can drop 10 G's, maybe 5-6. I would love to do the Alaskan DIY or western Canada, but most affordable is New Foundland, and with good opportunity. I really want to get me a moose.
When are you going back? Maybe I'll just roll with you.

you can do a moose hunt, cheaper than I did. Mine was a float, so the raft rental is more, ect. bush flight out from McGrath to the drop off point, raft rental and getting everything picked up and flown back to McGrath was $5000 per person. The rest of the price, is food, taxidermy, shipping of goods, getting to anchorage and then McGrath, uhual rental in anchorage, meat processing, shipping of meat, hotel rooms in anchorage and McGrath. charter flight from McGrath to anchorage to get everything from McGrath to anchorage. when you got a couple thousand pounds of stuff to move around the state, it is not cheap. I probably could have save about a grand getting stuff out of McGrath, but I am glad, I did it the way I did. I saw a lot of guys scrambling to get there stuff out. There is a lot of logistics involved in a hunt like this. The bush of alaska is not a cheap place. However looking back at it, it was worth every penny.

I would love to do an epic moose adventure like you did. I've always dreamed of a float trip moose hunt. How many miles did you float? If I ever get truly serious about Alaska I may have to give you a call. The planning you did had to have been enormous. You need everything to line up perfect on an adventure like that. There's definitely a lot of logistics involved...by air, land, and river. Would love to just hear the story verbally but am afraid if I did I would have to make it come to fruition.
