Looking for some insight regarding areas around Casper for possible mule deer opportunities in 2015.
I am talking about things like general areas to consider, are there OTC or leftover buck tags available, whats the hunting pressure like...
Maybe Regions E, B, D or J.
We will be pronghorn hunting near Casper in 2015, but my buddy and I are making plans for a back country muley hunt in 2018. We have never done a backpack hunt before, and I am looking to set up something sooner to do as a practice run. Thinking maybe extending the trip a few days trying for a muley might be just the ticket.
My thoughts are something around Casper my be a good opportunity to practice camping without being at extreme weather climates, and would also give us a chance to do an evaluation of some of our hunting gear.
I understand that deer are not as big and probably not as plentiful in the eastern half, but that's okay. Would also give us some practice with our glassing skills. Not looking for a book deer, just looking for some practice experience and hopefully put a decent one on the ground so we can practice field care, packing out as well.
