Or Nebraska.... They almost have predator status here. We can shoot 7 a year here. They are seriously getting thick. The only challenge is finding the time to hunt them.
7?!?! Only 3 in the spring though, right? I've been kicking around the idea of a NE turkey hunt this spring.

Right. Three in the spring and 4 in the fall. The fall permits are either sex and you can shoot two bird on each permit. I have taken several turkeys with a bow out of my deer stand. It make a nice bonus to the deer hunt. We have found a bunch of ways to cook wild turkey for sure!

I think Nebraska would be an excellent hunt for a non-resident. Most landowners here in the central part of the state will give permission to just about anyone. I rarely see another hunter as I'm not sure many residents even bother to hunt them. Our turkey population boom is really fairly recent so there isn't much turkey hunting tradition in many areas. Many of the farmers I approach are surprised anyone even wants to bother hunting them.
