Hello, Iam new to the site, but I have been a member for many years.
I have been building points and never thought that I would have gained this many . Now the problem is where? Oldman winter has changed things a few times for me on my thoughts on where to go. any suggestion on what you would do if you had 19 points . any advice would greatly be appericated. Iam looking at next year to burn them so it would be 20 deer points , thanks huntinsmart

Yes , I think I can draw any deer hunt the state has to offer. The big thing is hitting it when the time is right. I wont use a outfitter . Its just my choice. I know colo, had a bad winter a few years ago and the mature bucks just dont seem to be there yet. Far and few. Maybe 2014 hunt success on big bucks will climb. 2015 is when Iam gonna cash out . unit 44 does seem to have the best genes but not the best hunt on success from what I have learned. I will just keep digging. thanks for the reply orion /co

Unit 44 fourth season is typically the best trophy hunt, but deer numbers are down.
My buddy hunted 44 last year 4th season rifle and landes a huge buck. He also said he seen quite a few nice bucks. He was only hunting the weekends and I think it took him 2 weekends and he bagged it. It's a major migration corridor once it snows it's game on.

On thing I would recommend, if you are a point or so ahead of the pack. Find out how close to the season you can return the tag. If that area does not get the right weather for a good migration, consider returning the tag. I believe in Colorado you will have to eat the price of the tag and loose the current year's point to have your points reinstated, but that is a small price to pay with the years you have invested.

Thanks guys, for the input. Yes you can turn the tag back the day before the season starts and keep the points, but no money back. I did this once already 10 years ago. I had a unit 10 3rd season buck tag . Things that year didnt work out so I returned the tag. Now I wish I would of hunted it, I would be back at 10 points already.
Does anyone have any pictures of bucks that have been killed in unit 44 .

I live in 44, I got some pics I can post of bucks I've chased. But 44 isn't what it used to be, but that being said I have seen huge bucks taken 2nd season even an 3rd season, I can't really give out my areas cause there my little sweet spots but I can throw a little info your way
