I researched 10x42s last summer. Ordered Zeiss, Minox, Razors and Cabela's Outfitter series. Zeiss won. Check them out.

I went with 15x56 vortex vultures, only because I couldn't afford something better. Does it get the job done? Yes. Would glassing early morning and evening be better with nicer glass? Absolutely. Looking through swaros vs what I have is a night and day difference. Good thing about swaro and vortex - both have great resale value. Vortex due to warranty, swaro due to quality. All hunters being equal, which obviously they are not, swaro would win. Would 15x56 kaibob's in the hands of an exceptional hunter work better than swaros in the hands of a novice? Of course...
Ditto, I bought the vultures for that same reason. They work great.

Get a tripod, mount those vultures on it, and be patient .. You will be amazed at the critters you will spot that you probably wouldn't have seen with 10X binos. It will for sure put the odds in your favor.

The only thing I have read about the zeiss 15x is that they are much harder to put a tripod adapter on but I am sure there is one that will work.
I have the zeiss 15's and love them. Just to clear up the tripod mounting concern for anybody that is considering these Bino's . The zeiss 15s come with a tripod adapter.

My friend whose 10-17x Leupold switch power binos were warrantied by Leupold got his replacements today. They sent him the new 15x56 binos and a set of their top 10x42's. Top notch customer service any way you look at it. He is going to try to make it by my place to show me the 15x before heading back to his home state, I hope to get to compare them to my 15x Swaros side by side and review it here.

Late reply but he never made it by, still haven't got to see them side by side. He will be back in December and maybe I can get it lined up then.

I'd be very interested in your comparison...already know the outcome but it would be interesting to see how the Leo's compare. A buddy of mine just bought a pair of the 15x56 Leupold's and they are nice.

I have the Vortex Razor 12x50 and like them a lot. It took some time getting used to the extra power but I?m in my second year with them and they are great. My hunting partner has the Swaro 15x56 and to me it?s too much. They are super heavy and I get kind dizzy looking through them without a stable base like a tri pod with the bino mount.
I can see the value in them as a replacement for a spotter and a smaller set of bino?s so you are cutting weight in that perspective only having the 15x56 bino?s instead of both.

I got to look through the Leupolds today. It wasn't an ideal test, it was 10:30 in the morning in bright sunlight so not a test of how they do in low light. Here are a few thoughts though.

They are heavier and bulkier than the Swaros I have. Probably a full inch longer and half inch wider I'd guess.
The glass is darn good. It's hard to say without having a set of Vortex Kaibabs right there but from what I remember looking through Kaibabs in the past I'd put them at about equal. Not Swaro but better than Minox and pretty darn good.
Looking toward the sun the Leupolds definitely had more of a halo than the Swaros. Looking away they were pretty close.

Anyway, that's about all I could tell. I would like to have them on tripods side by side as the sun goes down but didn't get that chance. The guy who owns them got his deer today and was headed back home soon, just stopped to show me his buck.

As far as 15x binos replacing a spotter they do a good job at reasonable distance. I watched a buck tonight with mine at 900yds and could have told you any detail you could have wanted to know through them. Double that and a spotter is nice. I usually carry both.

Well I thought I would update a old thread.. After looking through just about every offering in the field (Zeiss, swaro, Lecia, vortex, maven, meopa, and a couple I forgot) in the end I saved up money where I could and picked up a pair of swaro’s 15x56 a couple weeks ago.

To me they stood out enough to wait the extra time for the purchase and they are amazing.

In the end I am happy I waited and spent the extra scratch.

I love mine so much I haven't gotten them out of the case since last November.
Afraid I will get dust on them. lol

Last season in Nebraska I jumped a ditch and they came out of my chest pouch and landed on the ground. I almost had a heart attack.

Take them out get them dirty, bang them around and get some dents in the housing and scratches on the lens.

I have a friend that was bow hunting from a tree stand a couple of years ago. He bent over just a little too much one time and his Swaro's fell out of his chest pouch and landed on a rock at the bottom of his stand. They actually broke in half. He sent them back to Swarovski figuring that they would send them back to him telling him that the warranty wouldn't cover this kind of breakage. A few weeks passed and he then got a package from Swarovski. It was a brand new binocular of the same magnification.

They are cool thx.

I got em on top of a outdoors mans pan head as I switch it with a Zeiss 85mm and the pan can hold up to a bigger scope. Ordering a phone scope adapter as all the pics I take through the spotter are w canon point and shoot. Will be cool to see how they come out through the 15's n cell phone -10xs compared to the spotter side by side.. Now if this snow would start to melt I could get out - we will be about a month or so behind this year on the upper basins melting out as there is just that much snow.

Looking them all over the Zeiss were very nice as were the lecia for me it would go - swaro, lecia, then Zeiss then the others were all very close in there. My observations were also made weeks or months apart not side by side.

I have had a pair of 15x56 swaros since 2006. they are on a tripod in the house. We have lots of glassing from the house. lots. LAst nigt the wife was able to watch a spotted fawn newborn last night at 200 yards. It was cool to see the wife liking the glass and how well she could see the fawn. the swaros last for years. These binocs get used everyday.
