I realize Bigsky& Rsnk also drew this same tag (btw... Congrats to both of you!!!), but I didn't want to breach any type of "forum etiquette" by piggy-backin' on their posts.

I also got very lucky in the draws this year w/ this tag and am trying to get all the advice that I can before the hunt starts. Though I'm originally from Nv, college and career took me away 20+ years ago and never had the chance to hunt elk in the state (there were very few opportunities to hunt elk in NV back in the early 90s). I was able to take a decent buck 4yrs ago up Lamoille canyon, but that was the last time I had a tag in my home state. Needless to say, I was super excited when I realized the quality of tag I drew this year!

Anyway, this hunt start Nov 6th and runs through the 20th. I have taken several archery bulls in ID, but have never hunted bulls in Nov. I'm expecting to find them in their hidey-holes recovering from the rut. I am curious if anyone has any info they're willing to share in regards to where to start my scouting. I'm not afraid of taking the 'heel-toe' express to get to the animals and realize this may be my best opportunity to get a shot at a true monster.
Thx everyone!!!

The east side of the Schell creek range would be where I would look. Too many people on the west side especially along the Success Loop.
Sending you a pm.

Gee with everyone going to the eastside there may not be anyone hunting the success loop...Congrats on your tag may see you up there. I plan on scouting the eastside mainly. However I won't count the westside out. I have seen big bulls there also.

There is a lot of big rugged country on the east side and with only 85 bull tags I don't think anyone has to worry about too much pressure.
Plus there are A LOT of places to hunt in units 111-115 besides the Schell creek range.

Well there must be some reason they call it SUCCESS Loop ;)
Don't get me wrong I have seen lots of deer and elk along the success loop over the years. One year my brother's two kids had deer tags and they went there for opening day and it was just a sea of orange clad hunters everywhere on the loop.
Too many hunters for my liking.

I'm with you to much orange can make for a semi-enjoyable hunt. I really haven't thought about the other areas. Haven't ever scouted around them. Might have to give them a looksy
