Well, I will be headed down to the unit before long...ready or not! It's going to be fun trying to find one of the big boys that have made the unit so highly sought after. How spread out the country is will make for plenty of second guessing, but I'm banking on persistance being the difference maker on this trip. Seems like most hunts are kind of that way...lol Just knowing that the next animal that is seen could be the bull of a lifetime will make it easier to keep plugging away. Thanks to everyone that has offered words of advice and encouragement; it is very much appreciated!

Had a great trip! Arrived 5 days prior to the hunt and more or less got a feel for the different units. The bulls were not difficult to spot, but the distance at which we had to look at them was definitely a concern. We ended up finding my bull Saturday morning. After closing the distance, we waited several hours for him to feed out of his bedding area. When he finally decided that he would show himself, his broken 5th added a few hours to his life! He was awesome, and after sleeping on it and watching the excellent video that we had of him multiple times, I knew that there was simply too much about the old warrior that I liked. We found him the next morning near where we had left him. He is my best bull by far, and having my oldest son and my wife along that morning made it a very special hunt, for certain!Nevada Bull 01.jpg

I certainly am not the right guy to give advice on the deer hunting in those units, but I did see several very nice deer in both 111 and 113. By nice, I mean 160+ type bucks. Didnt spend any time in 112. One of the bucks in 111 was a really good deer...this was during the rut. Hope this was helpful.

There are some really big bucks to be had in that area but you have to be willing to work extra hard to get away from the roads. You can always find the little guys along the success loop in 111. There is some really rugged country on the east side of the Schell creek range.
I have personally seen really big bucks in several places in 111. Good thing is there are not too many muzzleloader tags there so the pressure is minimal.
If you draw that tag send a PM and I would be happy to give you some locations to look at.
