I'm a if it matches your tag guy shot it, big, small, or in between. I like to eat wild game, and the excitement of the hunt. I'm starting to really enjoy taking new/newer hunters to see their excitement.

I think my reasons for hunting have changed throughout the years. When I was younger it was because I got to be with my dad in the outdoors learning how to hunt and being challenged. As I have gotten older and have kids of my own it has been some of my greatest accomplishments to watch them learn and succeed. I think it boils down to the fact that it is in my blood to hunt and fish and has been passed down for several generations in my family.

I guess it's a combination of the challenge of taking a mature animal and love for seeing new country. Outside trips to the NFR every few years that I enjoy and the wife loves, I never take a vacation to an area more populated than home. I live on a ranch and work outside every day so just being outdoors alone isn't it for me. There is a drive in me to see what is over hills and mountains, or up canyons I haven't been to before, and to revisit ones I have been in before to see what has changed. I love wild country and being able to concentrate 100% about hunting in it, not worrying about everything else and squeezing a few hours in hunting on the side like around home. I love the thrill of seeing a mature animal come within range also. That moment when by planning, persistence, or luck I am in position to take the shot. I love it just as much when I'm not the one behind the gun but it was my plan that put us there. All the times my plans don't work make those times they do special.

I have been a long time hunter and fisherman. I like to have a full freezer that gives me peace of mind. Spending any time outdoors is always a plus for me and the family. I have always told my wife that me go hunting is cheaper than a therapist. Not sure what I would spend my time on if I got to the point where I couldn't go any more.

Escape! That's number one. However, the definition of passion sums up how I feel about hunting and why I do it. It's in my DNA, although I did not grow up hunting. There are so many other great things that go with it, friends, family, camaraderie, food.....etc. Being in the woods is synonymous with being out on the water for me. They both allow me to escape!
