Hey Gr8bawana

What do you think a realistic archery bull in 061/071 is for a very avid hunter who will spend the entire season is? 330? 350? I'll be down there next week looking. I just don't know what a realistic size expectation should be. If I find a good 320 bull should I focus on him or are there enough bigger to keep looking? I'll eat the tag before I shoot a small 6 and wait 10 years.

Thanks
Rick

NDOW reports that 73% of bulls in those areas were 6 point or better in 2014. I personally don't hunt anything thiking about what it might score but that's just me. If it looks big to me I'm shooting. I think 330 would bo quite doable. I'm sure you are a better bow hunter that I am. I have only hunted deer with a bow but have not yet gotten one in about 10 years. I do know that a lot of bulls in NV have tines broken off during the late rifle hunts because there are a lot of bulls, Nevada has a pretty high bull to cow ratio.
I definately would not eat a bull elk tag for NV they are really tough to draw and it would probably be more that 10 years especially since you have to wait 5 years to apply again even if you aren't successful.
Good luck to you and let us know what you see.

I have seen multiple 350+ in the unit. Biggest seen dead was 392", alive close to 380".

I agree. The times I have tried to decide what animal to hunt based on score I just drove myself crazy. Find a bull you like and go after him!!

I caught them laying down from about 700 yards away and they already had me pegged. They were leaving as I was scrabbling to get the spotter and phoneskope all lined up. My previous picture was about the best I could get of the bigger bull. But you can see, the "smaller" bull isn't too bad either.

You guys are infor a great hunt, I'm jealous. I only get to help this year. My bro has a Sept. archery bull tag in an AZ primo area. My son has a bull rifle tag here in NV for area 231 and we've seen some big bulls in there. Helping is almost as good as pulling the trigger yourself.
