    2016 Plan - CO Unit 78 Archery

There's a lot of these posts, I know, but they help newbies like me tremendously. So for my first season I'm looking at CO unit 78 for an archery backpack in DIY hunt. The terrain looks good, I've been doing my research on several sites for benches, funnels, water holes, etc. I have to go early...

    Kimber Mountain Ascent Stock

I've looked around and can't seem to find anything on the topic so here goes. I've been seriously thinking about the Kimber Mountain Ascent in 30-06, but as much as I like the SS and lightweight, I can't get past the butt ugly stock. I was wondering for any of those with the MA or a Montana, can...

    The Tax Day Giveaway!

I really could have used those boots and a decent pack for when I hiked to the bottom of Linville Gorge. 1500 vertical feet later my feet were blistered and shoulders rubbed raw. To top it off during the 3 days I was down there I didn't find a single hide nor hair. At least the views were nice.

    Browning T Bolt 22 - 60's Belgian Made Restore

About Finished So after about 6-7 coats of Tru oil I got the finish I was looking for. I put the gun together and took it to the range to see how it shot. Turns out this thing is awesome, after getting it dialed in it was no problem hitting the target over and over. Squirrels will have a tough...

    Browning T Bolt 22 - 60's Belgian Made Restore

The name of the game has been sanding, sanding and more sanding. Started with 120 grit and worked up to 400 which seemed to be smooth enough to point out flaws. I've also found that when working on it that it's impossible to not hit everything within arms reach and cause a ding and give more...

    Browning T Bolt 22 - 60's Belgian Made Restore

So I've made some good progress, but there's still plenty more to be done before I get to shoot it. I received the new stock, and although it's 90% finished, there is a lot of fitting and sanding to be done so everything works properly. Using an oil lamp to soot the barrel it was a process of...

    Browning T Bolt 22 - 60's Belgian Made Restore

Here's a couple pics, the barrel has already been cleaned up a bit but still has some more to go. You can see on the stock where the finish is chipping off, hint #1 its a salt stock, then how the trigger guard was getting eaten away. I was able to find another original guard online cheap without...

    Browning T Bolt 22 - 60's Belgian Made Restore

So my Uncle In-Law gave me an old rusty 22 over Thanksgiving since he does not hunt and has not touched the thing in years. Turns out its an old Browning T-Bolt 22LR and I'm pumped, Ive been wanted to get a 22 but other hunting wants have gotten in the way. After a little research it turns out...

Garmin Oregon 600 GPS - On Sale for $250

Thought I would put it out there, REI has the Oregon 600 on sale for $250 right now, regular $400 until 11/23. With that out of the way, is this a good unit? Who else is using the Oregons? I'm planning a trip out west next year and figured I need a good GPS and this seems like a good deal...

    Newbie from NC

Hi All, new guy here from North Carolina starting my planning for next year's adventure. I've never done a western hunting trip other than pheasants up in ND, but my wife foolishly gave me the green light to go for it. That means I need to get too far along in the process for her to try and stop...
